    Description

Berry Reserve Playground sits right where Narrabeen Lagoon meets the sea, a fully fenced castle-themed wonderland with a much-loved cafe in a restored 1933 tramshed beside it. This is the easiest possible family stop in Narrabeen: park, let the little ones loose behind the wall, and order a coffee that arrives before anyone has fallen off anything.

    Why We Love It

    • A castle with a moat and crocodiles — the sandstone turret entry, drawbridge, dragon's lair and fairy garden turn a quick play into an imaginative epic.

    • Walled, not just fenced — a solid enclosure between the kids and Pittwater Road, the car park and the lagoon, so you can actually drink the coffee.

    • Pretend-play heaven for the one-to-six crowd — a lolly shop with a register, a tram ticket booth, train tunnel and mosaic dragon reward repeat visits.

    • Two in-ground trampolines and musical instruments mean the busy bodies and the quiet tinkerers both find their corner.

    • Right on the Narrabeen Lagoon Trail — tack on a pram walk or bike ride along the flat shared path straight from the gate.

    • Calm, shallow lagoon swimming out front at the kayak ramp — clear water and an easy entry for a hot-day cool-off.

    • Coffee and food right next door at the Tramshed cafe, which also features an actual old school tram you can go inside!

    Tips

    • Come early on weekends: the car park and the Tramshed cafe both fill fast by mid-morning.

    • Mind the parking clock: the lot is free but time-limited (3 hours weekdays, 2 hours Saturday mornings, unlimited Saturday afternoons and Sundays).

    • Bring bathers: the shallow lagoon edge by the kayak ramp is great for a paddle and quieter than the bigger lagoon spots.

    • Pack a hat anyway: big trees shade much of the playground, but the lagoon-side lawns are open and sunny.

    • Use it as a trail base camp: fenced play, cafe, toilets with a change table, and BBQs make it the best start point for a lagoon walk or ride.
